Psychological evaluations
At AB Psych, we offer expert assessments for individuals of all ages, but most often, we're here to help families who are trying to understand a child’s behavior.
Whether you're seeking answers for a young child, teen or yourself, we know one thing is essential: getting the right diagnosis matters.
For parents, we begin with a free online Pre-Assessment, a simple set of questions designed to help you reflect on what you’re seeing and decide whether a full evaluation makes sense. From there, all assessments are done in person and include thorough, individualized testing.

Why in-person? Because many developmental and emotional challenges can look similar on the surface and we want to be sure we’re identifying the right issue, not just treating symptoms.
Our evaluations go far beyond basic checklists. We take time to create a full picture of how someone is thinking, learning and functioning day-to-day. You’ll leave with real answers and a clear path forward.
We know how hard it is to wait. That’s why we aim to deliver results within weeks and in some cases, even the same day. Once your report is complete, you can move forward with the support and services that are right for you or your child.
What Psychological evaluations can help with
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
ADHD is one of the most commonly diagnosed neurodevelopmental conditions in children and teens and also the most misunderstood. It presents in three ways: inattentive, hyperactive/impulsive or a combination of both. However, behind every label is a real child with real struggles and real strengths.
At AB Psych, we approach ADHD evaluations with care and clarity. We look beyond surface behaviors to understand the full picture, confirming symptoms show up in more than one setting, such as home and school. Just as important, we rule out other possible explanations like anxiety, learning differences or emotional distress, ensuring families get answers that are accurate and meaningful, not rushed or generic.
By getting the diagnosis right, we help families move forward with confidence. We achieve this through tailored strategies and support that meets children where they are at, so they can become the individuals they’re meant to be.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how children perceive the world, process information and connect with others. While every child is different, many experience challenges in social interaction, communication and flexibility. Common signs may include repetitive behaviors, sensitivity to sounds or textures, and a strong preference for routines.
At AB Psych, we believe understanding a child’s brain is the first step toward empowering their growth. That's why comprehensive ASD evaluations include clinical observation as well as insights from parents and caregivers who know the child best. Together, we aim not just to identify differences but to light a path forward, grounded in dignity, respect and meaningful support.
Intellectual Developmental Disability (IDD)
Intellectual Developmental Disability (IDD) is characterized by significant limitations in both intellectual functioning and adaptive behaviors. This includes the skills needed for everyday life such as communication and self-care.
At AB Psych, our evaluations for IDD combine standardized cognitive assessments with detailed insights into how a child navigates daily tasks at home, in school and in the community. We don’t just measure abilities, we seek to understand the whole child, their environment and the support systems that surround them.
By identifying these challenges early and accurately, we empower families, educators and care teams to build thoughtful, individualized plans that promote growth, independence and dignity at every stage of life.
Specific Learning Disorder (SLD)
Specific Learning Disorder (SLD), often referred to as a learning disability, involves persistent challenges in core academic skills. Most commonly this includes reading, writing and mathematics. These difficulties are not due to lack of effort or intelligence, but rather the way a child’s brain processes information.
At AB Psych, we use targeted assessments to identify learning patterns and pinpoint areas of struggle. These evaluations help determine if a student’s academic difficulties meet the criteria for SLD and what kind of support will make a difference, whether that’s specialized instruction or a more individualized learning environment.
SLD can affect a child’s confidence as much as their grades. That’s why we approach every evaluation with sensitivity and a belief that, with the right support, every learner can thrive. Understanding the challenge is the first step to unlocking their potential.
